The Progress Party’s plan for housing

As an Island we have simply not built enough residential accommodation to meet growing demand, decade after decade.

This has led to house price increases that have outstripped average earnings. This now means that many young people and families are priced out of the market.

The Progress Party will identify sites for more homes by introducing innovative new policies to maximise land use, focus on the redevelopment of aged and derelict sites and continue to support the States owned housing provider to deliver more socially rented properties and first time buyer homes.

The Progress Party will seek to improve the quality and energy efficiency of homes as part of providing more affordable housing and adopt innovative policy ideas to achieve this goal.
